Welcome to Scout's Page
Scout was born here at Rooster Valley Golden Retrievers and is a daughter of Mollie and Jax. We wanted to explain why Scout has preliminary OFA results for her hips and elbows. OFA will not provide an actual certification or post results on their website unless they meet the age requirement of 24 months for hips and elbows. It is not recommended to have the testing done within 3-4 weeks of a heat cycle and based on the the anticipated start of her cycle, we chose to have her OFA health testing done at one week shy of 23 months. We do not plan to have her x-rays redone due to her age at the time of initial testing, one month would not make a difference in her results. Scout received a rating of "Fair" for her hips, which is an acceptable rating from OFA to use her in our breeding program. Anything less than a "Fair" would be considered a fail. This link will take you to the OFA page that discusses the ratings, https://www.ofa.org/diseases/hip-dysplasia. She received a 0.27 on her PennHip results at 22 months of age, which is well below the breed average of 0.53. With her excellent PennHip score and her passing OFA rating we feel confident in breeding her with the results even though OFA will only provide a"preliminary report" for her Hips/Elbows. We have posted her Preliminary Hip/Elbow report from OFA since you cannot see it on their website.
